What is the Bible?

The Bible is a record of God's work in the world and His purpose for all creation. Written over sixteen centuries by more than forty authors, it is a compilation of 66 books encompassing various literary styles, all addressing God's purpose for us.

This compilation features diverse literary forms, including narratives about the lives of both good and evil people, accounts of wars and journeys, the life of Jesus, and the establishment of the church. It is composed of stories and dialogues, proverbs and riddles, songs and sayings, historical records, and prophecies.

Generally speaking, Biblical narratives were not penned as they occurred. Instead, they were retold across generations before being documented. Nonetheless, the teachings within different books are coherent, demonstrating a consistent relationship across the entirety of Scripture despite the events occurring in varying historical contexts.
